Maps! and VFRDB

A list of maps for your perusal. These maps are interactive in the sense that you can click to pan and zoom and also identify features. All of the data in the VFRDB including satellite imagery, orthophotos and georeferenced photos can be found by using the "I" too to click and identify VFRDB points. Have fun!

Observed vs Imputed +VFRDB points

View the VFRDB points and those polygons for which fuel model data was imputed.

NDVI - Normalized Difference Vegetation Index

Bands (4-3)/(4+3) of Landsat ETM+. Excellent for extracting vegetation info.

VFRDB with Fuel Models and Land Use

An overview map with VFRDB locations, observed and imputed fuel models and RIGIS land use. --This map loads slowly... turn off land use if you can't stand the wait --

Fire Hazard Map

Areas are ranked based on expected fire behavior (flame length; fireline intensity) and distance from fire stations.

Note: These maps are stored on an internet map server located on http://www.rapidfiremaps.com:8000. The :8000 refers to port 8000. If you are having difficulty viewing these maps, is is probably due to the fact that port 8000 needs to be opened up on your network firewall. Talk to your system administrator about this. This will only apply to a very small percentage of users who have really thorough system administrators who have taken extreme lock down procedures on malicious internet traffic (i.e. Greg Bonygne). ;)
